What Michael Jackson can teach us about blogging

by Rob Rammuny on December 31, 2009 · 10 comments

The king of pop, one of the most successful entertainers in the world, Michael Jackson. Michael Jackson was hated by millions for some of the acts he performed, but loved by billions for what he did. Now. . .you’re probably wondering “what did Michael Jackson do that could teach us something about blogging? He never even blogged!”

Do what you love and don’t stop

Michael Jackson was known and inspired billions of people not only because of his music, but for his inspiration and determination to push every song and video he made to the fullest. When you blog do you do it because it’s a way for you to bring in a bit of additional income? Or do you do it because it’s what you love to do?

Blogging should be a passion, something you love to do and will put forth the best of your skills towards. A lot of times bloggers quit blogging because they are being shot down by destructive criticism, but why stop doing something you love because a couple jack asses don’t like what you do? Michael Jackson was hated by millions, but each day he kept doing what he loved and he did it to the fullest.

Be unique

If you ever watched one of Michael Jackson’s music video’s or his movie This is It, his music and video’s were unlike anyone else. When you blog don’t be a norm, readers hate that. Be yourself, be unique! When your blogging it should be able to reflect your personality, your posts should have a blogging style to it that nobody else has.

Take this video below, Don’t stop til you get enough – Michael Jackson

When you watch this video, can you relate this to others musics video’s? Probably not, because this video is unique! The same should go for you when you blog. If your posts are dull, boring and show no uniqueness, what makes you think someone is going to take the time and subscribe to your blog? It’s just like the tens of thousand other blogs that are around.

Going beyond your wildest expectations

Everything Michael Jackson did he pushed himself beyond his expectations. Everything he did, he made it memorable.

As a blogger it’s important to set goals and achieve  them. What happens once they’re achieved? Do you just stop? Of course not! After you accomplished one goal, make another one and continue with the many more to come! Expectations are met to be broken, so break them, keep breaking them and don’t stop.

Don’t stop ’til you get enough

Michael couldn’t have said it any better. Never stop blogging until you are ready to. But since it’s your passion (hopefully), that should be never! Unless you plan on running your blog on auto-pilot and plan on enjoying the rest of your life relaxing.

What’s your thoughts?

Do you think Michael has offered us something good to learn about blogging? Do you have anyone that you think can teach us about blogging, if so share with us who! But the must important question is why do you blog?

Very… interesting article. I’ve never thought of it like this, but I suppose MJ can teach us a thing or two about blogging. Plus, think of how much every celebrity blogger made by posting articles about his death

It was quite funny because that idea of him teaching us about blogging and I wrote a post about him! And your right about the celeberity bloggers, also imagine how much extra they made for going viral on Twitter.
