How to Build a Powerful Blogging Alliance

by Rob Rammuny on February 9, 2010 · 41 comments

You’ve heard me rant about networking effectively, and connecting with other probloggers, but what about building a blogging alliance? A group of bloggers from a variety of niches, and myself have formed a blogging alliance. What we’ve done within this blogging alliance is helped each other grow to levels we would not have been able to grow to without each others help. We’ve also had rants where we’ve debated about blogging topics and shared our insight about it, gave constructive critiques about each others blogs, joint ventures have been formed and a lot more.

I’ve shared with you some of the things I’ve done with my blogging alliance, but the possibilities of your blogging alliance are never-ending. I’m going to share with you today how to build a powerful blogging alliance that will drive your blog to the next level.

How to Build a Powerful Blogging Alliance

Interact with others

A strong blogging alliance is very interactive with each other. If you want to build a strong alliance, start interacting with people in your niche and start building valuable relationships. Start connecting with others on Twitter, interact with your community, join webinars or even start your own broadcasts.

Connect with your “future” alliance

Interacting with what’s going to become your blogging alliance is only half the battle. Start connecting with your alliance on a more personal level. Grab their Skype and Facebook names and start building your relationship more closer. Don’t get me wrong, interacting on Twitter and through blog comments is a great thing to do, and I believe those are the first steps to building a relationship. However, after you have covered that ground and broken the ice, throw your rod in and start pulling out the fish.

Build your alliance

No more lolly gagging. You’ve met your team, so make it official. Find an area that you are able to connect with your alliance on, in a social way. I recommend using Skype.

Why your alliance should use Skype
  • Allows voice calling with groups of people
  • No limit to the # of people in your chat
  • Great moderation tools
  • File sharing
  • Screen sharing
  • It’s free

Download Skype

Establish your alliance

Your alliance needs to have trust and a foundation around it. Our alliance is built firmly on helping each others progress to the next level. What’s yours going to be? Don’t focus on growing an alliance, if the alliance you already have isn’t established. Branch of and build your alliance when it’s ready to grow.

Group Discussion

What’s your thoughts on this? Have you ever wondered about building a blogging alliance? Building a blogging alliance is a great way to take your relationships with others to the next level, and help expand yourself as a blogger.

Rob,

By far, this is probably the best blog post I’ve read. I never thought about officially building an alliance with a team. I have various connections in my niche but never thought about bringing every body together to help build each other’ blog.

I think this would be an incredible way to push everybody’s blog to the next level and as mentioned, expand like minded relationships.

Do you think that an alliance should be formed around bloggers within your niche or is it just bloggers in general?

I believe it should be formed with people who are like-minded folks such as yourself. For example, in our blogging alliance we have people that run college blogs and people who run blogs about gardening, we also have undefined bloggers. The fact is, we are geared towards helping each other. A blogging alliance doesn’t have to be formed only around people in ONE specific niche, however do not make it to diverse.

Wow! That was extremely strange. I got 3 new posts in my feed all with the same title but from different blogs. Now I see that you are all working together. Networking and building alliances is a great idea, and by the other two bloggers it seems you have quite a strong team.

A blogging alliance is just like having a mastermind group in the business world. It’s a very powerful thing and it makes you learn a whole lot, get help when needed, network, get business partnerships and joint ventures, and it helps you in promoting your blog.

Hey this sounds great! Either you’re psychic or you’ve been peeking into my brain, I’ve been working on finding a regular group of people who are interested in working with me, just this very day.
I’m glad to hear you’ve got a variety of niches included in your “alliance” because I’d love to be a part of it. Where do I sign up again? Is my Christian blog niche, too diverse?

On a different subject: I’m just curious, are you in an alliance with Jordon Cooper from “Not a Pro” or is he doing a parody of today’s blog post. Or is it just a big coincidence that you booth have posts with the same title today?

Rob, you make it sound like we’re the Justice League or something… a mastermind group is probably a more qualified name for it. It’s simply a group of like-minded bloggers (regardless of niche) that use Skype conference call to help each other, criticize our work and discuss strategies about blogging & marketing more effectively.

Hey Rob! You’re 15? I love you. It’s funny, I had this idea around two weeks ago to create an online portal for bloggers to write and share information. Then two days ago found blogussion.com and I was blown away by how intuitive and beautiful the site was! It inspired me to create a like-minded theme for my existing idea. (check website link for a preview of it!) I just created it yesterday so no navigation works and formatting is still in progress yet but I’m excited to start it!

I’m 25, and I’d absolutely love to join you guys in your quest of sharing blogging information! How can I help? =]
