Ever since I’ve started my career as a webmaster, Aweber has always been amongst one of my favorite email marketing software’s to use. I was lucky enough to interview Justin Premick, education marketer of Aweber. Justin Premick has played an huge role in the success of Aweber and this is why I’m proud to interview him.
First off – Can we have a little background information on you Justin – Where do you live? How old are you? What motivates and inspires you?
I’m 28 and live in Philadelphia. I’m a teacher by nature and by training (before joining AWeber I used to teach Spanish), and I love when people
“get” something (in this case, when they get how email marketing works and how to employ it effectively to their business).
1) What motivated you to join Aweber?
AWeber presented a great opportunity for me to join asuccessful company and work with smart people in a fun, relaxed environment.
2) Do you ever plan on starting your own business? If so what kind?
I’m not necessarily opposed to the idea of owning a business, but I’m very happy with what I do at AWeber.
3) Has working at Aweber played an influence in your career with teaching?
While I had been a teacher before joining AWeber, I’ve found teaching people to build profitable email marketing campaigns to be far more challenging and rewarding than any other assignment that I’d held previously. I’ve learned plenty about how to communicate ideas more effectively via text, images and multimedia, and I continue to do so every day.
4) What is the best advice you have ever given?
Not sure I’m the right guy to answer that – advice is only as good as the results it leads to, so I’d have to ask the people I’ve advised.
5) You help small businesses improve their email marketing campaigns – What is your best advice for those starting their first email campaign?
Don’t be a perfectionist. If you try to create a technically and tactically perfect email campaign right out of the gate, you’ll find yourself constantly tweaking your emails, never satisfied. And you won’t ever launch your campaign. It’s best to put together a simple campaign of even just two or three emails and start collecting subscribers as quickly as possible. The faster your list grows, the more motivated you’ll be to create better emails (and more of them!) and to learn to build your list faster.
6) If the internet had not existed – What would you be doing today?
I’d probably still be teaching Spanish.
7) Is there anyone you look to as inspiration? (You can name more than one)
Too many to list
I’m inspired by anyone who aims to make the world a better place for even a few others. Plus anyone who possesses not only a vision, but exhibits the discipline and perseverance required to make it a reality.
