I recently wrote an article on Robswebtips “five tips to become a better a affiliate marketer” so I decided to add five more awesome tips to help you become a better affiliate marketer.
1 – Offer incentives if someone uses your affiliate link
Sometimes people can struggle selling other people’s product. So, why not go that extra step and offer a incentive if someone purchases it right?
Process
You’re signed up for Aweber’s affiliate program, but not many people use your affiliate link. So you decide to offer a incentive when someone purchases Aweber using your affiliate link.
Example
Want a free copy of my premium wordpress theme? Use this link (your affiliate link), buy the product and send me your transaction ID and you will get a free copy of my premium theme.
So how does this whole process work out in the end? You offer a free copy of your wordpress theme to your buyer, in return you get paid a affiliate commission.
2 – Build relationships with the affiliate marketing team
Not all, but some affiliate marketing programs offer affiliate managers or teams that are devoted to help you with your affiliate campaigns. It’s important to build strong relationships with the company your promoting products for. Working with affiliate mangers and teams, are a great way to find out which promotional techniques you should avoid, and which ones will work best for your product.
3 – Always promote your product
Never stop promoting your product. If your readers start seeing that you continually promote this product with positive feedback and more reasons to buy it. Chances are they’re going to give the product a try.
I’ve seen people do a simple review on a product and call it a day. Now for some affiliate marketers this technique works, but for many others I know it does not. So, don’t stop promoting the product. Treat it as your own and never stop promoting.
4 – Share your experience about the product
Nothing is better then shedding your own personal experience about the product. Of course you can review the product with just general feedback anyone can find surfing the web. Take the extra mile and shed your insight about the product from your own experience. It will make a tremendous difference because people will value your opinion more.
5 – Treat your “Affiliate” product as your own
Look at the product your selling as your own product. Take the time and market it, write about it, build campaigns and more. Treating your affiliate product such as your own will motivate you to drive more sales which equals more money.
Share your thoughts
Everyone uses different techniques for affiliate marketing, what are yours? Share your techniques and thoughts about affiliate marketing.

Thanks Chris, I’m glad you like it!
The more smart effort you put in promoting your affiliate links online (ie, incentives etc.), the more your income will grow. Always test different approaches to see which one converts the best.

Very True, Barba. I doubt anybody fines one technique on there first time. It takes a lot of testing.
Really great post Rob, straight to the point.
I think 5 is such an important point. If you show your visitors you think highly of the product your always going to connect more with your audience and boost sales.
I agree with all of your points. What I’ve found with all of my affiliate ventures is that you need to gain credibility, and I do not mean faking to get it, but to be honest.
The most successful site I run is one where I teach people how to do a certain thing, and then recommend products that will help them start or make their job at doing it easier. If there exist an open source application that also does the job, I’m quick at recommending (if I’ve used it and liked it) that too.
On my newest site I promote hosting from a broad range of hosting companies. I hope to be the most credible website for hosting reviews, and all of the reviews are reviewed before publication. I’m also open about links being affiliate links, I actually say this on the front page of my web hosting review site.
Most of the current reviews are actually translated from my original site (which is in another country), so if any of you guys here have tried hosting from any of the listed companies I would sure appreciate it if you helped me out by writing a honest review.
Glad to see your adventures going well for you. All I have to say is please do not let your hosting review site end up like all the other ones out their. A bunch of shitty sites that promote false crap to only convince their readers to buy the hosting.
Keep it real, and commission will follow
Hi and thank you for your quick reply Rob. (I found you some time ago through Lisa’s case studies on YouTube by the way, and I’m glad to hear things are working out for you too
.
Yeah, the only regret about the review site is the crappy domain name, all the good ones were and is taken so I’m preying on some better ones to get available so I can move the site.
I’m pretty decent at SEO, but this site is my first English one. Even though I got it indexed pretty fast I believe it will be hard to rank for good phrases. In my home country the population is like 4.5 million so ranking for good phrases there is pretty easy. This will be a challenge, hehe.
No, I agree – promoting false crap to make sales won’t cut it in the long run, at least not with savvy users.
I wish you the best of luck with all of your future ventures, and I’m now follwing you on Twitter.
